Chapter 17

Update complete.

Note: аs the first representative of a sentient species of mutated creatures, you have the right to name your species.

“FARU... WE WILL BE CALLED the Faru!” the fairy muttered quietly, drenched in sweat. The pain was quickly receding, and his red face was gradually returning to normal.

Your species is now called the Faru. As the first representative of this species, you are hereby the Alpha Faru. As Alpha Faru, you receive a 50% bonus to all stats and one additional evolution point.

Alert! Mutation in progress.

Congratulations, you’ve received the rare Killer Instinct mutation.

Please note that you cannot have more than three mutations at level 1.

Congratulations and welcome to the survival game!

As soon as the messages were done, Arwin started screaming in pain yet again. The wings emerging from his back burned like fire. After five seconds of agony, the pain suddenly started to subside, replaced by the euphoria of relief. Catching his breath, the warrior got to his feet and spread his new wings. They were much larger and more powerful than his old ones, and they were also a deeper shade of dark blue, with numerous silver patterns on them. However, his wings weren’t the only thing that had changed — he was also taller. He’d been a little over two feet tall before, but he was now a good two and a half feet.

All the Faru gazed at him in awe, overcome by the inexplicable feeling that this man would lead them to a brighter future, and they had to follow him.

The warrior looked at his wings, then his fellow Faru, then opened the system menu.

“So we really do come from monsters...” Arwin thought, sighing sadly. His new character sheet made this as clear as day.

Killer Instinct, lvl. 1

A rare combat-focused mutation that gives you the melee skills of an experienced fighter. Your reaction speed is many times higher, your strength is increased by 10%, and your agility is increased by 20%.

“Spend the evolution point on Killer Instinct,” Arwin thought, issuing a mental command. His wings were wracked with pain, but only for a moment. The silver lines that made up the patterns on his wings slithered like snakes to form new, more complex and beautiful patterns.

Killer Instinct, lvl. 2

A rare combat-focused mutation that gives you the melee skills of an elite fighter. Your reaction speed is many times higher, your strength is increased by 20%, and your agility is increased by 40%. An adrenaline rush will significantly increase the speed of your thoughts.

“Put the last EP into Killer Instinct,” the Alpha Faru said in his mind.

Error! You cannot evolve a mutation beyond level 2 during the first phase of your evolution.

“...”

(FA) “That was painful, my friends, but... we can evolve and become stronger now. Don’t be afraid. You can take it. Trust me, and we will rebuild our nation,” Arwin said, looming proudly before the nineteen other Faru. To them, his words sounded like a message sent down from the heavens.
